Phenna Group

Collaboration between Phenna Group businesses continues to create added value for customers by providing access to a wider range of specialist services through a single trusted partner.

A recent project at the Margam Connection Substation development in Port Talbot demonstrates how businesses across the Group can work together to deliver a comprehensive solution tailored to client requirements.

Supporting a major infrastructure project, Geo Site and Testing Services Limited (GSTL) coordinated a range of ground investigation, materials testing and environmental testing services, bringing together expertise from across Phenna Group to support the client's programme.

The project involved contributions from several specialist businesses:

  • GSTL delivered ground investigation services, site testing and laboratory materials testing.
  • In Situ Site Investigation provided Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) services to support further ground investigations.
  • Environmental Chemistry Testing (ECT) carried out environmental testing services associated with the project.

By working together, the businesses were able to provide a coordinated service covering ground investigation, earthworks testing, piling mat testing, laboratory analysis and environmental testing requirements.

Rather than managing multiple suppliers, the client benefited from a single point of contact through GSTL, simplifying project delivery and improving efficiency across the testing and investigation programme.

The collaborative approach also delivered commercial benefits. Multiple site testing services, including sampling, density testing and plate load testing, were coordinated through GSTL, while laboratory and environmental analysis were undertaken by GSTL and ECT. This enabled services to be delivered efficiently while providing cost savings for the client.

Delivering Value Through Collaboration

The integrated approach provided access to a broad range of testing and investigation services through one trusted supplier, helping to:

  • Simplify project management and communication
  • Reduce the need to manage multiple suppliers
  • Improve coordination across the testing programme
  • Deliver cost efficiencies through integrated service delivery
  • Provide access to specialist expertise from multiple Phenna Group businesses
  • Support timely decision-making throughout the project

The success of the project has already created further opportunities for joint working on the site, reinforcing the value of combining specialist expertise from across the Group.

Jason Jenkins, GSTL, commented: "Clients come to us looking for solutions, and being part of Phenna Group allows us to access a wide range of specialist expertise. When a customer requires additional services, we can source that support from within the Group, providing a more efficient and seamless experience while ensuring they receive the technical expertise they need."

Projects such as Margam Connection Substation demonstrate how collaboration across Phenna Group businesses can simplify project delivery, strengthen customer relationships and provide access to a broader range of technical capabilities through a single trusted partner.

Stuart Abbs, Divisional MD, Infrastructure shared: "Collaboration across our Infrastructure Division is about more than working together; it is about creating better outcomes for our clients.
