Introduction
Can you tell us about your background and journey in your industry?
I am a Food Industries Engineer with over 9 years of international experience in food science and regulatory affairs. My specialization is in Food Regulatory Affairs, with a focus on regulatory compliance of formulations, labelling, and legal requirements for exports to the U.S., the European Union, Canada, and Latin America. Throughout my career, I have led key regulatory projects that combine technical rigor with strategic support for innovation.
What is your current role within GROUP FOOD SOLUTIONS, and what does it involve day-to-day?
I currently serve as International Regulatory Affairs Coordinator at Grupo Food Solution SAC. I lead a team of 12 people, coordinating regulatory reviews of formulations and labels, managing sanitary authorizations, advising multidisciplinary teams (R&D, marketing, and legal), and overseeing regulatory compliance of products for international markets.
What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
I have always been motivated by the idea that regulation and innovation are not opposites but rather complement each other. I chose this field because I am passionate about helping the food industry innovate within a safe and legal framework, supporting companies to bring their products into new markets without regulatory barriers.
Technical and Industry Expertise
What is your specific area of expertise, and why is it important to the industries you serve?
My specialization is Food Regulatory Affairs. This area is critical as it ensures that products comply with each country's regulations, prevents border detentions and sanctions, and most importantly, protects consumer trust.
Are there any current challenges or innovations in your field that you're particularly excited about?
One of the major challenges is the growing complexity of front-of-pack nutrition labeling regulations, not only in Latin America but also in markets such as the U.S. and Europe. Each society adopts different warning systems, which requires innovative solutions. At the same time, the digitalization of regulatory processes offers exciting opportunities to optimize both time and accuracy.
Can you share a recent project or achievement that showcases your work or your team's capabilities?
I designed and implemented a standardized guideline that reduced label validation time from several days to just one day. I also coordinated the approval of more than 100 product labels for international markets and prepared successful technical responses to FDA observations on labeling errors, which enabled efficient product clearance.
