Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per year
About the Role:
ECAS is looking for a proactive Environmental Enforcement Officer to join our team, covering Derby and surrounding areas. This role requires flexibility to travel and stay away from home when necessary.
You will work closely with Food Service Establishments (FSEs), educating them on best kitchen practices to prevent sewer misuse and reduce blockages. As part of this, you will need to deliver challenging messages in a firm but professional manner, ensuring compliance with grease management regulations.
This position requires someone who is self-motivated, physically fit, and able to work autonomously while managing a high case load at any one time. You will also be required to lift light manhole covers during inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits to customer premises, identifying and addressing misuse of drains.
- Educate customers on best grease management practices and their legal obligations.
- Build rapport with customers while confidently delivering challenging enforcement messages.
- Gather and submit detailed reports for enforcement consideration.
- Maintain accurate case records using the company CRM system.
- Work flexibly across multiple locations, including staying overnight when required.
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence (minimum 2 driving experience).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to influence customer behavior.
- Ability to work independently while managing a high-volume caseload effectively.
- Physically fit, as the role involves site visits and lifting light manhole covers.
- Organised and versatile, able to adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient in MS Office and open to learning new systems (e.g., CRM software).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in drain maintenance, pest control, or environmental enforcement.
- Previous use of CRM software.
- Strong customer-facing experience in advisory or compliance roles.
