Divisional Financial Controller

Hybrid (UK) | High-Growth Testing, Inspection & Certification Group

£65,000 - £75,000 per annum, plus £5,000 car allowance and benefits

A fast-growing, entrepreneurial testing, inspection, certification and compliance group is seeking a Divisional Financial Controller to support one of its global divisions.

The opportunity:

Reporting to the Divisional Finance Director, the Divisional Financial Controller will oversee the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across several operating companies, providing high-quality analysis, insight and decision support. You will play a key role in the month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for the division.

This is a hybrid role, offering the chance to work closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders in a dynamic, non-bureaucratic environment where your input will directly influence performance and growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the divisional month-end process and deliver monthly reporting packs.

  • Lead the year-end process, working closely with Group accounting and tax teams.

  • Own forecasting cycles and annual budgets for designated operating companies.

  • Provide timely financial insights and analysis to senior leaders and key stakeholders.

  • Build financial models, support scenario planning and investment appraisals for capital projects.

  • Play an active role in performance reviews, budget discussions, and cost control meetings.

  • Partner with colleagues across the business to highlight risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.

  • Drive efficiency by reviewing costs and identifying savings across operations and finance.

  • Provide trusted financial support and value-add analysis to operational teams to improve performance.

  • Work closely with the Divisional Finance Director to deliver insight that supports decision-making.

  • Develop strong working relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders across the businesses.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve day-to-day and monthly accounting processes.

  • Assist in the financial onboarding of newly acquired businesses as part of Group M&A activity.

About you:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.

  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP/IFRS and proven experience managing the month-end close process.

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with a range of accounting systems, from SME packages to ERP platforms.

  • Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.

  • A self-starter with strong initiative and ownership of workload.

  • Close attention to detail, with the ability to adapt and respond while maintaining a clear understanding of underlying activities.

  • Relevant industry experience in testing, inspection, certification or related sectors is desirable but not essential.

What’s on offer

  • Opportunity to join a high-growth, acquisitive group with a dynamic and innovative culture, free from typical large-corporate bureaucracy.

  • Chance to influence performance across a key division contributing significant sales and EBITDA to the Group.

  • Hybrid working and exposure to senior stakeholders, M&A activity and strategic decision-making.
