Credit Controller – Mansfield

The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Credit Controller to join our busy Finance team. This role is essential in ensuring timely collection of payments, maintaining healthy cash flow, and supporting wider financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding invoices
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, and post to chase payments
  • Resolve billing issues and disputes
  • Maintain accurate records of communication and payments
  • Prepare reports on debtor balances and cash collection
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. Sales, Customer Service) to resolve queries
  • Recommend and implement legal action or escalation of bad debts where necessary
  • Process card payments and manage accounts on hold
  • Allocate receipts and write off bad debts as needed
  • Support the wider finance team with additional tasks

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in credit control, debt collection, or a similar finance/customer service role
  • Working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Sage, SAP, QuickBooks)
  • Confident using MS Excel
  • Familiarity with Direct Debit systems (desirable)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage priorities independently
  • Team player with a proactive approach
