About the Role

Do you want to make a difference in your community and protect the environment for future generations? We’re looking for passionate, people-focused individuals to join our team as Community Engagement Officers.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in tackling community and environmental challenges by engaging directly with local residents, promoting best practices, and raising awareness about how small changes can have a big impact on our environment.

Working in partnership with Severn Trent Water, you’ll visit households to provide education around environmental care - including how certain items can affect our wastewater networks and contribute to blockages or pollution.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage with members of the public and local stakeholders to promote positive environmental behaviours.
  • Handle challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism to influence change.
  • Conduct community visits and environmental checks (such as lifting light manhole covers to report potential blockages).
  • Support campaigns that encourage community-wide environmental responsibility.
  • Record interactions and findings accurately using digital reporting systems (full training provided).

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent communication skills - articulate, confident, and personable.
  • Experience in a customer-facing or stakeholder engagement role.
  • The ability to handle challenging or sensitive conversations with a calm and constructive approach.
  • Someone who is passionate about making a difference for the greater good, with a genuine interest in environmental protection.
  • A proactive mindset, comfortable working independently and within a supportive team.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).

What We Offer

  • Salary of £23,000 – £26,000, depending on experience.
  • Company vehicle and pension scheme.
  • Flexitime and a stable, full-time position offering long-term security.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development.

This is a meaningful and future-focused role where your work will directly contribute to improving the environment and community wellbeing.

If you’re ready to use your communication and people skills to make a positive impact -we’d love to hear from you.
